Fields of Green Montessori School is a place where mother nature looks down and smiles upon us.
Just close your eyes and imagine lush green fields, trees rustling in the wind, big yellow sunflowers and the sound
of children's laughter echoing all around.

In the middle of it all sits a big red barn and a 250 year old farmhouse.
Because it's a house, the children learn in a very laid-back and comfortable environment.
In the spring and fall some classes are held outside.

The soothing sound of the babbling brook nearby is an educational experience for the children.
They wear galoshes and go to the pond to study. We have a colorful array of birds on the property.
We also have chickens, goats, sheep and rabbits - just to name a few.

The children are taught from Seedlings on to respect all living things, Mother Earth, themselves and others.
They are taught to put healthy foods into their bodies and they even enjoy it. This is our little community.

At Fields of Green we are all taught to pitch in and help.
The older children nurture the younger children and help guide them. The children are taught structure and independence
from the time that they are Seedlings.
They set the table at lunchtime, eat off of real plates and are expected to clean up.
They compost their scraps, recycle their containers and put their plates in the appropriate bucket for washing.
They are assigned chores at the end of each day and don't even mind doing them. I think it gives them a sense of accomplishment.

These values and independence, this way of life is something that they will always carry with them as they learn and grow throughout their lives.
Fields of Green is an experience like no other. The classes are smaller, the students get more hands on learning,
the teachers know them as if they were their own children. They provide a safe, nurturing environment for them.
It's like homeschooling outside the home.

In addition to the regular curriculum they offer music, art appreciation, cooking and world cultures.
I feel very fortunate that my child is part of the unique fabric of the Fields of Green quilt.
The formative years of childhood are something that stays with you forever. What a special place to spend your childhood!

Sincerely,
